When buyers ask us how we keep our whiteboards consistent, we usually tell them the truth: most quality problems don't appear on the finished board - they start somewhere in the early steps. Over the years at WIDENY, we've seen almost every type of issue a whiteboard can have, and we've built our workflow around preventing them before they happen.

Below is an honest breakdown of the problems we get asked about most often, where they usually come from, and what we do in our factory to avoid them.
1. Surface Coating Problems
①Ghosting or marks that won't wipe off

This usually comes from:
- Uneven coating thickness
- Low-quality paint or film
- Improper curing
- Marks getting into micro-pores on the surface
How we handle it:
We use controlled-coating suppliers, monitor paint thickness, and test every batch with repeated writing/erasing. Any panel that shows faint shadows goes into rework, not assembly.
②Coating powdering, peeling, or flaking
Common causes include:
- Poor adhesion between steel sheet and coating
- Contamination (oil, dust) before coating
- Using old stock from suppliers
Our solution:
We only use fresh, certified coated sheets and do adhesion tests randomly throughout the week. Sheets with uneven adhesive strength are rejected on the spot - experience taught us that small problems grow bigger after pressing.
③Scratches

Scratches occur mainly during:
- Transportation from supplier
- Cutting
- Assembly
- Packaging
What we do:
Every sheet is inspected under strong light. If the scratch can be seen from normal writing distance, we isolate it. Workers also use protective film until the last assembly step.
④Yellowing or discoloration
This usually relates to:
- Exposure to humidity
- Inferior surface coating
- Heat during pressing
Our prevention:
We store coated steel in controlled-humidity zones and adjust press temperature by board size. We also run UV-aging tests for long-term stability.
2. Substrate & Structural Issues
①Warping, bending, or dents

These happen when:
- The core absorbs moisture
- Glue is uneven
- Pressing pressure/time is incorrect
- The board is stored vertically too long before assembly
How we control it:
We manage moisture content, check core flatness daily, and maintain separate pressure settings for each thickness. Panels move to assembly immediately after pressing - we avoid "standing time."
②Bulging or bubbles
This usually means:
- The glue hasn't bonded evenly
- Pressing pressure was too low
- Core material was not compatible with the glue type
Our solution:
We match glue type to each core board and spread glue with calibrated rollers. Operators test adhesion by peeling samples every morning before production starts.
3. Magnetic Problems
Weak magnetic performance
This comes from:
- Using thin steel sheets
- Steel with low iron content
- Surface coating too thick
Our approach:
We standardize the steel thickness and check magnetic strength with sample magnets during incoming material inspection. If the sheet doesn't meet our magnet pull test, we don't accept it.
4. Frame & Edge Issues
①Loose or detached frame
Usually caused by:
- Inaccurate cutting
- Weak corner connections
- Incorrect assembly pressure
How we prevent it:
We use aluminum cutting jigs, corner-tightening tools, and running torque checks. If the frame shows even slight shaking, the board doesn't go to packaging.
②Uneven edging or gaps
Most often due to:
- Inconsistent frame length
- Board not perfectly rectangular
- Human error during assembly
Our fix:
We check squareness before framing and use fixtures to control alignment. Workers with more experience handle oversized boards to reduce the chance of misalignment.
Why Our Customers Rarely See These Issues
The problems listed above aren't rare in the whiteboard industry; they happen when factories rush or skip checks. At WIDENY, our routine may look stricter than necessary, but we've learned that stability comes from being predictable - same materials, same process, same inspection points, every day.
Before packaging, every board goes through:
- Flatness check
- Surface writing test
- Frame tightness check
- Magnet test (for magnetic boards)
- Visual inspection under strong light
Our team signs off each batch, so we know exactly who worked on what, and what records go with it.
If you want, we can also share our customized quality checklist for your size and material, or help you choose a structure that fits your market and reduces after-sales problems.
